- I understand that with the doubler you get an index of 54 from Norton's
- SysInfo, I installed a Tripler 486@75MHz and I get an index of 106 so the
- tripler seems to be twice as fast as the doubler! It all depends on what
- you want to do.
- However, because the buss in the bridgeboard is 16bits wide and the
- processor is a SX, which limits you to a 486slc upgrade, the performance
- that you get out of the bridgeboard will be really slow as compared to any
- actual 486 clone system.
- Also, even though the 486 at 75Mhz should be much faster than a 68k30 at
- 25MHz (which is what I have on my A3000) when doing some very basic number
- crunching the Amiga still outperforms my bridgeboard. This was using the
- same C program in both platforms.
- Still, I think that the upgrade is worth it.
- Good Luck
-
- P.S.: You might want to try out the PCKeyboard program I wrote for the
- bridgeboard which lets you use the keyboard with the bridgeboard without
- having to use PCWindow. It's in Aminet or at
